Marlou van Oevelen - van Dun
Marlou kept a very accurate record of her symptoms and treatments and gave the Foundation permission to use her story on the website before she died.
She passed away on March 8th 2024.
Lennie van Bekkum
Lennie's doctor did not refer her to a centre of expertise for gynaecological cancers, contrary to what was agreed upon in the Dutch medical guideline. Nor did he get in touch with a colleague at such a centre to consult on her treatment
Ien Fransen
Ien was misdiagnosed, went to a higher stage due to an incorrect intervention, was referred too late to a centre of expertise and has since been given up on a couple of times. Despite all that, she is "still going strong".
Tetske van Ossewaarde
In hindsight Tetske realised that she’d been lucky. One night, alone at home, she passed out in the bathroom and, after hours of drifting in and out of consciousness, dragged herself to her bed. There she remained for a week with extreme abdominal pains. A stomach flu according to the GP, but when she started bleeding, he sent her straight to hospital.
